WEMAX Nova, the Latest 4K UHD Ultra Short Throw Laser Projector of the Ancestor of Laser TV, vs Awol Vision LTV-2500

(Last Updated On: October 15, 2022)

WEMAX, many friends may be unfamiliar with this laser TV brand. In fact, it is only a sub brand of laser TV ancestor company named Appotronics. ALPD technology is a patented technology of Appotronics.

Appotronics, a Hidden Unicorn Company in Laser Projector Era.

WEMAX luanched the latest 4K UHD ultra short throw laser projector named Nova in the global market in April 2020. Until now it is the newest model in the global market, though many new models in China market, such as D30 and B300 which support tri color laser light resource. By the way the price of D30 and B300 is twice than WEMAX Nova. Maybe WEMAX Nova is the best choice for us.

ALPD has developed to generation 4.0, but the latest generation of ALPD technology is only used for commercial projection technology, and the latest one for household is still 3.0. The reason is simple, because the ALPD 3.0 product is much cheaper, suitable for public consumption, and the performance is quit suitable.

Comparing to the ALPD 3.0, the ALPD 4.0 has some improvements:

  1. Successfully developed the fluorescence+tricolor laser scheme in 2018 to achieve extreme viewing effect
  2. Greater color gamut (the color gamut value reaches 98.5% of Rec.2020)
  3. Apply ALPD ® The contrast of 4.0 products can reach 2500:1, far exceeding the cinema standard
  4. Higher luminous efficiency (than ALPD ® The efficiency of Generation 3.0 products has been improved by 30%)

As early as 2007, Appotronics took the lead in inventing the ALPD laser display technology in the world, using the transmission type fluorescent wheel, becoming the first generation technology combining fluorescence and laser, called ALPD 1.0 technology. It has seized the opportunity of global laser display technology.

Then in 2010, aiming at the development of laser TV products, the reflective fluorescent wheel and the optical expansion volume combining method were adopted to launch the ALPD 2.0 technology that can achieve high brightness. At present, most of the ALPD laser projectors, such as laser TV, educational machines, wall splicing, etc., use this technical scheme.

In 2011, for the development of cinema products, Optical Peak Technology began to deploy the ALPD 3.0 technology of red blue laser+fluorescence. This technology solves the problem of insufficient red light color brightness and low red light saturation. After years of research and development, it reached 55000lm high brightness, DCI-P3 wide color gamut and 100% color brightness in 2017.

In 2015, in order to achieve the ultimate viewing effect, the ALPD 4.0 technology of red, green and blue laser+fluorescence was deployed. Compared with ALPD 3.0, it is different in that on the one hand, green laser is added, on the other hand, narrowband filters are no longer needed for gamut enhancement, so it not only enhances the gamut, but also effectively improves the light efficiency. At present, its light efficiency is 30% higher than that of ALPD 3.0 products, and the gamut value can reach Rec 98.5% in 2020. At present, it has been widely used.

Whether it is the iterative updating speed of ALPD laser display technology or the breadth of market application, it has always maintained its technological leadership over the followers and competitors in the same industry. These are incomparable to the traditional RGB laser technology. It can be said that the traditional RGB laser technology is a backward old generation technology, the APLD technology is a new generation technology that is growing rapidly, and the projection using APLD technology is a more advanced projection.

The only solution that can replace or compare with ALPD technology is to directly use the tri color light source and give up the color wheel, such as the product of Awol Vision.

Awol Vision, the Later Coming King of Laser TV.
